Synopsis: A unique look at iconic Mexican singer Chavela Vargas’ life and music set within the art world and social milieu of mid-century Mexico City when it was the cultural capital of Latin America. Chavela Vargas, a trailblazer who constantly broke the mold, was edgy in the 1990s, yet remains quite relevant today because her story pushes so many hot topic buttons: Gender issues, gay rights, immigration and Mexican Culture.
